Access via SMS
Even without Internet access, you always have access to your eCall contact addresses via SMS. For example, you can send text messages to an entire group or have a fax job or a “text to speech” message triggered via
SMS. All contacts stored in your eCall account are thus available to you. Of course, you can also trigger any transmission order with a direct number.
Please note
- If you want to trigger a send job via SMS to eCall, the checkbox ‘I want to be able to receive SMS messages from mobile phones‘ must be activated under ‘Settings‘ -> ‘SMS settings‘ at ‘Receiving options’.
- Your mobile phone number must also be entered correctly under ‘Settings‘ -> ‘SMS settings‘ in ‘Send options’. Only this mobile phone number can be used to access your eCall account via SMS.
Send SMS to person or group
Example: a) ?tennis club? The tournament starts at 09:00 b) ?meierpeter? The tournament starts at 09:00.
Send the SMS message to the number +41 76 333 20 20.
If you want to send an SMS message from your mobile phone to a person or a group from your eCall address book, proceed as follows:
Enter the name of the person or group before the text. For a person, write the last name first and then the first name. There must be a question mark before and after the name. There must be no space between the last name and the first name. The additional command, such as “Tennis Club” in the example, must be at the beginning of the text in the SMS.
In the example above, the text ‘The tournament starts at 09:00.’ would be sent to all members of the group ‘Tennis Club’ or to Peter Meier.
Additional notes
- The person’s mobile phone number must be entered in the address book. A group must be defined in eCall as ‘Mobile Phone (SMS) / Pager – Groups’.
- Instead of a person or group name, you can also enter a mobile phone number, e.g. ‘?0791234567?…’.
- The address defined under ‘Settings’ -> ‘General’ -> ‘Callback number for answer by telephone or SMS:’ is sent as the callback number.
- The additional command as in the example ‘0791234567’ must be at the beginning of the text in the SMS.
Triggering a fax to a group with SMS
If you want to send a fax message from your mobile phone to a group in your eCall address book, proceed as follows:
Enter the group name before the text. There must be an asterisk * before and after the group name.
Example: *Bowling club* The tournament is postponed to 20:00.
Send the SMS message to the number +41 76 333 20 20.
In the example above, the text ‘The tournament will be postponed to 20:00.’ would be sent to all members of the group ‘Bowling Club’. No fax can be sent to a single person (use direct number).
A group must be defined in eCall as ‘Fax’ -> ‘Groups’. You can also enter a fax number instead of a group name, e.g. ‘011234567…’.
The sender information is the name and first name entered under ‘Settings‘ -> ‘General‘.
Trigger “Text to Speech” message via SMS to person or group
If you want to send a voice message from your mobile phone to a person or group from your eCall address book, proceed as follows:
Enter the name of the person or group before the text. For a person, write the last name first and then the first name. There must be a hash ‘#’ before and after the name. There must be no space between the last name and the first name.
Example: #Radverein# Due to bad weather, the tour is postponed to Sunday. | Or: #meierpeter# Due to bad weather, the tour is postponed to Sunday.
Send the SMS message to the number +41 76 333 20 20.
In the example above, the text ‘Due to bad weather, the tour will be postponed to Sunday.’ would be read out to all members of the group ‘cycling club’ on the phone.
For ‘Peter Meier’, the message of his telephone number entered in the mobile phone number is read out. For the person, the number in the ‘Mobile number’ field in the address book is used. A group must be defined in eCall as ‘Phone’ -> ‘Groups’. Instead of a person or group name, you can also enter a phone number, e.g. ‘#011234567#…’ or a mobile number, e.g. ‘#0791234567#…’.
The name and first name entered under ‘Settings‘ -> ‘General‘ are used as sender information.
